Goals for MailChimp free WordPress plugin

Automation is available for MailChimp’s paid accounts only. MailChimp offers a monthly plan starting at $10 based on the size of your list. You can purchase credits (Pay As You Go) so you can send out email for a few cents per message. Start using MailChimp with $30 in credits by creating an account now. To use this plugin, you need to: Have a paid MailChimp account, either a Monthly Plan or Pay As You Go credits; Enable “Goal” in your MailChimp account (via Account > Integrations > Goal); Create an API key for WordPress to connect to your MailChimp account (via Account > Extras > API keys); Add Goal tracking code to WordPress (search for the official “MailChimp Goal for WordPress” plugin); Enable “Goal Tracking” in each MailChimp Campaign or Automation to track where subscribers go on your site. You can find more detailed steps in this blogpost by MailChimp. Example: adding a goal to a download link Switch to the text version of your post or page and add the attribute “mailchimpgoal” to the thing you’d like to set as a goal for your visitors to click on. Assign a custom name to the attribute for you to recognize the goal with. For instance, a default download link could look like this: download the zip You could simply add mailchimpgoal=”download-zip” like this: download the zip Example: triggering on the downloaded file To create an automation workflow that triggers on a subscriber clicking the link, follow these steps: Open Automation Click “Create Automation Workflow” Select your list Choose the “Website Activity” workflow In the Trigger step, enter the full URL of the page hosting the goal triggers, for instance https://www.yourdomainname.com/post-promoting-download/ As the last step of your email message (Scheduling / Segmentation), “Choose segmentation conditions” > “Subscribers match the following conditions” and pick “Goal Activity”. Enter the name of the goal you setup in WordPress. You can vary with how you enter the goal name in MailChimp (is / is not / contains / does not contain / starts with / ends with). Note the “Choose post sending list-action”. You can update a custom Merge Field to keep track of the fact of the subscriber’s action. Or you can move people through interest groups to keep track of progress in some kind of funnel.
